Dravet Syndrome UK bolsters team with new Head of Marketing and Communications appointment
Dravet Syndrome UK (DSUK) has appointed Katherine Raven as its Head of Marketing and Communications following the promotion of Claire Eldred to Director of the charity last year.
Claire Eldred, Director of Dravet Syndrome UK, said: "We are delighted to announce Katherine as our new communications and marketing lead. 2024 is set to be an exciting year for the charity as we continue to grow and reach more families. Katherine brings a wealth of healthcare communications experience to this pivotal senior role, bolstering our capacity to deliver against our strategic objectives.”
Katherine brings almost 20 years of experience in leading multi-disciplinary communications and marketing in the health sector including for national charities and the NHS. Most recently she was Head of Communications and Engagement for Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System, where she won multiple national accolades including at the NHS communicate awards for campaigns to encourage residents to receive their COVID vaccine and engaging health and care staff. Prior to that, Katherine led the public relations for Moorfields Eye Hospital, delivering integrated communications and marketing for its NHS services, two charities, research centre and private practice.
Katherine is a Chartered Institute of Public Relations Fellow and serves as a Trustee for national charity, Fertility Network UK.
Katherine said: "I’m delighted to join the team at Dravet Syndrome UK and have been very inspired by those living with Dravet Syndrome and their families. I hope to be able to use my experience working in healthcare communications to reach more families and healthcare professionals through awareness and education.”
Katherine’s appointment brings the DSUK staff team to five, alongside a board of five Trustees. Both staff and Trustee teams include parents and family members of those affected by Dravet Syndrome.
